Fresh Strawberry Frozen Yogurt
There's not much to say about this except that it's crazy good, as in "I'd-do-anything-for-a-bowl-of-it-right-now-good"! It's also crazy easy to make! There are only 4 ingredients at play here--fresh strawberries, sugar, yogurt and lemon juice and they come together easily. The hardest part of course is waiting for the mixture to chill sufficiently so that you can churn it! It's so full of strawberry goodness and pretty guilt-free too! Utterly refreshing on steamy days! If you still don't own an ice cream maker--run and get one now. I promise you, you won't regret it!! Now, I know I've been posting quite a few strawberry recipes in the last couple of weeks and you're probably tired of seeing another one, but I didn't want to let the summer go by without sharing this amazing treat with you. Seriously, I could eat this every day and not get tired of it and when made with farm-fresh berries, it's nothing short of miraculous--so hurry and make this while it's still strawberry season 'cause time is fleeting. Next up: blueberries and the most dangerously fantastic blueberry bread I've ever tasted! So much to look forward to!!
Happy almost 4th!! Just dropping by on this Sunday morning with a short post to share a red, white and blue treat that is currently being licked away by my home judges--it's doubtful that these will make it to the actual holiday! The pops are not only easy to make (they just take a bit of time), extremely refreshing and a real crowd pleaser with both young and old, but pretty healthy too! Plus they're a great way to use all the yummy seasonal berries. And I don't know why but there's just something that's so exciting about eating something with distinct sections to it. These have a strawberry, lemon yogurt and blueberry ice layer, but you could easily sub in raspberries, blackberries or any other berry or fruit you prefer. They're tart and sweetly fruity--just exactly what you want them to be. So if you're looking for just that little something to add some yankee doodle dandy to your weekend, these are just the thing! Have a great holiday everyone!!
Creamy Raspberry Lemonade Popsicles
So...somebody went strawberry picking this weekend and bought about 8 pounds of the most amazingly luscious, gorgeous berries and I've been baking with them all weekend. Why then, you are mostly likely asking yourself, is she posting a popsicle that features raspberries?!! Well, the thing is, I made these incredibly delicious and refreshing pops last week but didn't get a chance to post them yet and with the heat wave that's about to descend upon us (and that other parts of the country have already been dealing with) I thought it was high time to get these out to you, strawberry overload or not. But be prepared--many things strawberry will be hitting these pages soon!
Strawberry & Balsamic Vinegar People's Pops-Famous Fridays
Anyone who knows me well, knows that trendy is something I just can't quite pull off. No matter what, I'm always a couple of steps behind staying on top of what's in and hip. That goes for fashion, books, tech devices--even TV shows--Heck, I just finished watching The Sopranos, a series that wrapped in 2007! It even applies to food. Though the pairing of herbs, spices and vinegars is not really new when it comes to desserts, particularly frozen treats, unsurprisingly, I'm only just now jumping on the hipster ice cream bandwagon, but that's not the case for Nathalie Jordi, David Carrell and Joel Horowitz, the very "in" force behind People's Pops and my Famous Fridays honorees of the week. Today I'm featuring their very "cool" (double meaning intended!) strawberry and balsamic vinegar popsicles and all at once Unwritten Recipes has suddenly found a spot at the popular kids' table!!
Blueberry Lemon Ice Cream Sandwiches
Wanna make a crowd of people happy? Serve them ice cream sandwiches, particularly homemade ones with a blondie crust and a center of blueberry swirled lemon ice cream. If that doesn't bring a smile to your eaters, you seriously need to start hanging out with a new crowd, 'cause life shouldn't be that hard!!
Fresh Blackberry Ice Cream
I may be committing some sort of culinary faux pas here by posting an ice cream recipe before Memorial Day, but the blackberries have been so sweet and juicy this year, that I thought you might want to get a little jump start on summer. Besides being such a gorgeous color, this ice cream is absolutely delicious and will win over even those who are firmly in the fruit-does-not-belong-in-ice-cream camp!
Vanilla Pudding Pops with Chocolate Chips
Remember when pudding pops were all the rage, made especially popular when advertised by a certain comedian who's kind of controversial now? My sisters and I LOVED them and begged my mom to buy them for us whenever she went to the store. I vaguely remember us trying to convince her that they weren't "really ice cream", just frozen pudding and therefore somehow healthier! Aren't kids the best? Well, now you can revive the kid in you with these nostalgic vanilla pudding pops to which of course I had to add chocolate chips! Creamy frozen vanilla pudding on a stick with little hints of chocolate throughout? What could be better?!!
Strawberry Lemon Dreamsicles
I know it's still only the beginning of March but the weather has been so unseasonably warm around here over the last few days, that I'm ready to jump ship from Winter and right into Summer! Especially when gorgeous, delicious, healthy pops like these are on the menu. Creamy, sweet and tangy alternating layers of lemon and strawberry yogurt-y goodness, these easy-to-make pops are guaranteed to become your new favorite. Bring on the heat, baby!!
Roasted Strawberry-Buttermilk Sherbet
I know, I know, it's the first day of September and it probably isn't trendy to be posting a recipe for ice cream, but I've been trying to share this one for the last two months and something or other has managed to bump it from the lineup. But it's so good and I really want you guys to get to enjoy this as well, so I am boldly throwing caution to the wind and untraditionally posting it today. Maybe I'm feeling that extra surge of courageousness because today is also my birthday and I figure, what the heck, I'm doing what I want, today of all days!!
Easy Homemade Fudgesicles
Don't you just want one right now? And sure, you could run to the store and pick up a box, but I promise you that they won't taste half as good as these! And they'll be filled with lots of stuff that you don't need like guar gum, carrageenan and polysorbate 65...whatever those are! Plus these take only a few minutes to prepare with ingredients you most likely already have in the house. Seriously, what are you waiting for?!!
